Nursery Care Worker

The purpose of a Nursery Care Worker is to:
• Provide a welcoming, dependable, secure, and safe space for infants through preschool children.
• Support the ministry of Penfield United Methodist Church
Duties:
• Create a welcoming and safe space
• Warmly greet children and families.
• Utilize the sign-in and sign-out process.
• Help maintain a clean, well-organized, and welcoming nursery. Ensure the nursery is a place of joy, play and friendship.
• Interact with the children through conversation and play.
• Special needs for each child must be noted and addressed with care.
Accountability:
The Nursery Care Worker will be assigned a liaison to the Staff-Pastor Parish Relations (SPPRC) committee. Immediate concerns may be brought to the pastor. The pastor will also provide support and guidance.
Work:
• The Nursery Care Worker will arrive no later than 8:45 and be present through the 9:00 am and 10: 45 am worship service. The Nursery Care Worker may take a break at 10 am as long as there are no children in the nursery. The Nursery Care Worker will return to the nursery no later than 10:30 am and remain throughout the 10:45 worship service.
• Notify a parent through cell phone if an issue or emergency arises.
• The Nursery Care Worker will organize the nursery before leaving, wipe up any spills and sanitize any toys used. A spray sanitizer will be available. Facility needs may be brought to the attention of the pastor or the SPPRC liaison.
• Time off should be arranged through the SPPRC liaison with at least two weeks’ notice.
• The Nursery Care Worker is encouraged to participate in other activities in the life of the church in order to build relationships with the families of the congregation.
• The Nursery Care Worker is required to have a clean background check and participate in Safe Sanctuaries training.
• The Nursery Care Worker will receive an employee handbook and will be required to complete a timecard.
Compensation $40.00 per Sunday
